Robotics & coding (Y1 – Y3)
Where: The City School
Who: Y1 – Y3
When: 7 September – 17 December 2026
Teacher: Ms Goldmhie
Children build a machine, then write the code that tells it what to notice and what to do.
BUILD AND PROGRAM TOGETHER
Sensors, motors and servos wired by hand, behaviour written in code. A build without code is a model. Code without a build is a screen.
FINDING THEIR OWN MISTAKES
Most of coding is the gap between what you wrote and what you meant. Children spend the term getting fast at closing it.
THEIR OWN PROBLEM
Once the kit responds, children pick something worth solving. ELC children have built line-following rovers, ultrasonic glasses for a blind traveller, and a sensor that watched a moss garden and reported when it was drying out.
